Dream. Purpose. Passion. To me, they’re all variations on a theme…why am I here? What is the impact, the difference I can make in this world?
And in my experience, the way to respond to those questions is to first recognize that the answer is already in me. My purpose is written into my DNA, so to speak. It’s already in there…and has been since before I was born. My struggle is around accepting and embracing those dreams and passions that are undeniably me.
And the struggle (my struggle) comes from a fear that the world won’t approve of my dreams. That my dreams don’t matter, or aren’t good enough.
But I’ve learned something in the past few years. And I’ve learned it through intentionally putting myself into different experiences. My experience has been that my dreams are valuable. They’re so valuable, in fact, that when I take the time to curate them and craft stories around them, paint the future as seen through my dreams, if you will, other people want to be a part of those dreams.
I spent so many years doing things other people said I should do in order to achieve things I thought I wanted. And then, when I set aside the “doing,” and started focusing on “being” the kind of person my dreams showed me, something nearly magical happened. The dreams showed up. In real life. Without a lot of angst or laborious effort.
Dreams really do come true. If you “be” and “live” as though they are on their way.
