Ever been on a project where the close out went something like this: “Geez. I hope we never have to do that again!” With more than 70% of all projects ending in failure, and only 2.5% of companies successfully completing all their projects, I completely understand the “this sucks” mentality around project management.
But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if there were an approach to planning and execution that led to a euphoric, “Hey, let’s do that again!” at the project closeout?
There is.
And it’s fundamentally different because it’s born from a perspective of convergence and integration rather than bifurcation and division like the traditional MBA and PMI approaches.
As an example, have you ever heard someone talk about work-life balance? Sounds good, doesn’t it? I mean, who doesn’t want balance? Balance is a good thing, right?
But the whole idea of work-life balance presumes that they’re opposing forces. You can’t balance work and life unless they’re on opposite sides of the scale, unless they’re opposing forces in your life. Is that really what you want?
I don’t. I don’t want a “work-life balance.” I want a converged, integrated life. I want an existence where “work” and “life” are so woven together, you can’t even tell them apart. Like if work and life were paint, and work were blue, and life were red…I don’t want a red and blue life…I want a purple life! I don’t want to have waste time and energy keeping the colors separate, keeping the blue from mixing with the red, and the red from mixing with the blue.
The Roadmap2Destiny approach to strategy and management is as fundamentally different from the status quo as work-life integration is to work-life balance.
Are you ready for a better approach to strategy and management? One that leaves you with the feeling of, “Hey, let’s do that again!”
