I have a confession. For most of my life, I never saw the value in journaling. Today, I’m still not as consistent as I want to be in journaling. I’m getting better…and there’s still room for improvement.

My own process of discovering the value in journaling – in recording memories as they happen – led me to make that an integral part of the Roadmap2Destiny program. Because, for me, discovery is an awesome, wonderful, marvelous process. And journaling empowers discovery.

Journaling can take on many forms. Of course, there’s writing. And that works well for me. And with a mobile recording studio in everyone’s pocket, there’s also photos and video clips. A multitude of media through which to record the adventures of life so that the treasures can be discovered later.

From my perspective, journaling is a several-step process. There’s the “creating the record” part. That’s simply about recording things in writing, photos, videos, etc. And while that’s valuable, there’s even more value in reflecting on those “travel logs” after the events captured in them have had time to marinate in the effervescence of time.

It’s in reflection that the greater value is created.

It’s in reflection that we see beyond the obvious.

It’s in reflection that reality is reveled.

It’s in reflection that we recognize our own potential.

It’s in reflection that we become our greatest selves.

What memories does your strategic planning and project management process capture? And how does it help you ignite those into transformative energy to move you forward towards your goals?

What marinated memories do you allow to effervesce into fuel that moves you forward?
