Have you ever tried something that didn’t work? I have. Years ago, I tried exercise to lose weight. And despite everyone else telling me that exercise was the way to go, for me, it didn’t work.
“You haven’t done enough of it,” they said
“You haven’t given it enough time,” they said.
“You’re not being intense enough!” they said.
What I’ve come to realize is that for me, physical weight is an indicator of emotional stress. And, it’s influenced far more by what I take in than it is by what I put out in terms of exercise.
For me, exercise is not in alignment with who I am. You might say exercise is not in alignment with my strategic plan for my life. And that’s why it doesn’t work for me. In fact, that’s why it will never work for me…because it’s out of alignment with who I am, with my strategic plan – my vision – for my life.
By the way, last summer, I released 50 pounds in six weeks with zero exercise.

Translate that experience to your business.
Have you ever tried something that was working for everyone else…and for you, it was a colossal failure? When you were in the struggle, did you hear things like I did with exercise? As if you were the problem?
I have great news! You are not the problem! And neither is the mechanism you were so desperately trying to implement. The problem is that the mechanism you chose was out of alignment with who you really are, with your vision of yourself or your business.
How do you make sure the things you chose are in alignment with your corporate identity? With who you are? With where you want your business to go?
Quite simply, you make sure they’re in alignment with your strategic plan. And the more straightforward and engaging the plan, the easier it is to tell whether something is in (or out of) alignment with that plan.
